FAQ
Q. Are you afraid of anything?
A. Dogs that attack while pedaling, horses, sneaking camp, acute mountain sickness, hunger…
Q. How does one go to the toilet?
A. Ideal in a ceramic. Otherwise, dig a hole… leave nothing behind – well, sort of.
Q. Do you find the Asia tour difficult?
A. The hardest part is the logistics. Anyone can pedal.
Q. How do you handle food and water?
A. You must know what awaits you. In Namibia I carried ten liters of water and supplies for the whole day. In Ethiopia barely any water – high population density.
Q. How fit should you be?
A. I am not competing in the Tour de France. You get in shape as you progress. Of course, you have to know your limits.
Q. How you will get through the Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan border conflict (question from Nate)
A. Getting close to the region I will monitor the news, check with the Romanian consulate and US Department, avoid areas near where there have been recent clashes, maybe hire a local guide… but most importantly respect local customs, traditions and be mindful of cultural and religious sensitivities.
If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them.
